As of April 29, President Donald Trump has completed his first 100 days of his second term in office. These days have been marked by significant moves and bold decisions that have reshaped U.S. policy both domestically and internationally. From cracking down on immigration to implementing controversial tariffs, Trump’s actions have left a profound impact on the nation and the world.

A Record-Breaking Return to Power

Trump’s comeback in 2024 was one of the most remarkable political events in U.S. history. After securing his place back in the White House, his first 100 days have been nothing short of consequential. His approval ratings, however, have seen sharp fluctuations, largely due to his aggressive economic policies and his stance on international issues.

Tough Policies and Unpredictable Moves

Trump’s approach to governance has been as bold and divisive as ever. His administration has focused on enforcing strict immigration policies, implementing tariffs on trading partners, and dealing with the ongoing war in Ukraine. The 45th president has been praised by many in the Republican Party for keeping his campaign promises, but his actions have also attracted significant criticism, especially from Democrats and foreign governments.

Major Actions of Trump’s First 100 Days

April 28: Executive Order on Sanctuary Cities

One of Trump’s most significant moves in his second term came on April 28 when he signed an executive order targeting sanctuary cities. These cities have been known to limit their cooperation with federal immigration authorities. The order mandates that the Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security publish a list of jurisdictions that fail to comply with federal immigration laws. Cities on this list could face the loss of federal funding unless they begin to cooperate.

April 4: Tough Stance on Immigration

Immigration continues to be a key issue for Trump. On April 4, he reinforced his commitment to a tough immigration policy. His administration has overseen the deportation of approximately 139,000 illegal immigrants since his return to office. One of the controversial cases involved the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was sent back to El Salvador after what was described as an “administrative error.” Trump’s administration defended the action, despite claims that it had been a mistake.

April 2: New Tariffs on Imports

Perhaps one of the most contentious policies introduced in Trump’s second term was his announcement of new reciprocal tariffs on all U.S. imports. On April 2, he declared the move “Liberation Day,” arguing that U.S. trading partners were taking advantage of America. He stated that the U.S. would now charge tariffs “approximately half” of what other countries charge American goods. This move escalated tensions with several countries, particularly China, and sparked a trade war. The tariffs have had an immediate effect on the U.S. stock market, which has seen increased volatility as a result.

March 30: Potential Bid for a Third Term

In a surprising announcement on March 30, Trump hinted that he might seek a third term as president. According to the U.S. Constitution, no president can serve more than two terms. However, some of Trump’s supporters believe there is a loophole that could allow him to run again in 2028. Trump’s campaign store even began selling “Trump 2028” merchandise, fueling speculation about his future political ambitions.

Trump’s Controversial Relationship with Elon Musk

Another notable development during Trump’s first 100 days has been his relationship with Elon Musk. Initially, Trump praised Musk’s contributions to government efficiency, even appointing him to head the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). However, their relationship has soured over the past month, with Trump reportedly stopping Musk from attending a classified meeting on China. Musk announced that he would step down from his role in May, marking the end of what had been a high-profile collaboration between the two billionaires.

Approval Ratings and Polls

Trump’s approval ratings have been another area of contention. After the announcement of the new tariffs, several major polls, including those from ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, The New York Times, and The Washington Post, showed a significant drop in his approval numbers. On Monday morning, Trump dismissed these polls as “sick” and accused them of suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Despite the negative polls, Trump has continued to insist that his administration is doing great, claiming that his accomplishments are unparalleled by any previous U.S. president.

Looking Ahead

As Trump reaches his 100th day in office, it’s clear that his second term has already been marked by bold moves and significant challenges. From escalating trade wars to controversial immigration policies, Trump has not shied away from pushing forward his agenda. Whether these actions will ultimately lead to long-term success or failure remains to be seen. However, one thing is certain: Trump’s second term will continue to capture attention both in the U.S. and around the world.
