Gyro House on KY 54 has seen a big rise in customers after adding a new item: Dubai chocolate. This rich, pistachio-filled treat has quickly gone viral on social media, bringing many new faces to the restaurant.
Owner Mena Mekaiel said they started selling the chocolate just a few weeks ago. Since then, the response has been amazing. “We sell over 300 bars a day,” Mekaiel shared. “It’s been busy, busy every day.”
The chocolate features a crunchy shell packed with pistachios and other tasty ingredients. Its growing fame on TikTok and other platforms helped spread the word fast. While similar sweets have been popular in the Middle East for years, Mekaiel noted that this particular version is something new.
A Sweet Addition Sparks Viral Success
“Growing up, we had stuff like it, but this is something new,” Mekaiel said. He explained that they saw many people asking for it online and decided to bring it to their customers.
This decision has paid off. Mekaiel estimates that business has grown by about 40% since the chocolate launch. It has helped Gyro House recover from a few slower months last year.
The Dubai chocolate is doing more than boosting chocolate sales. It is introducing many people to the full Mediterranean menu offered at Gyro House.
“A lot of new people that we have never seen before are coming in,” Mekaiel said. “They come for the chocolate, then they look at the menu, try some food, and they’re like, ‘Wow.’ Then they end up coming back.”
Social Media Drives New Customers
Social media has played a huge role in the chocolate’s success. TikTok videos showing the Dubai chocolate have gone viral, bringing attention to the small restaurant.

Gyro House is located just off KY 54 near a Dollar General. Mekaiel joked that some people still think it is far away.
“People say we’re too far, but it’s only 10 minutes from everywhere,” he said.
The restaurant first opened in 2021 as an extension of Mekaiel’s Elizabethtown location. It offers dine-in, carry-out, drive-thru, and delivery through DoorDash and Grubhub.
Dubai Chocolate: Affordable and Homemade
The Dubai chocolate is not only delicious but also affordable. Mekaiel said they make the chocolate themselves. That way, they can offer it at a much lower price than many online sellers.
“We sell it cheap because we make it ourselves,” Mekaiel explained. “Sometimes people ask why it’s so cheap compared to online. I just tell them, ‘Come try it and see for yourself.’”
For those who want to try it, the chocolate is available both in-store and through delivery apps. This makes it easy for customers to get their hands on the popular treat.
New Treats on the Way
Looking ahead, Gyro House plans to keep the momentum going. Mekaiel said they are working on adding another viral favorite: a strawberry cup filled with chocolate.
“We’re always trying to offer more,” he said. “We want people to feel welcome and to keep coming back.”
